“Suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death for ages 10-24”- American Foundation for Suicide Prevention

The #EndTheStigma documentary is a film produced by two students at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at ASU.
The purpose of the film is to inform our audience and start a conversation regarding how we think and talk about mental health and issues that surround it, such as suicide. Topics that involve mental health issues often get stigmatized because many people don’t know or don’t understand how to talk about mental health or talk to people who have mental health issues.
The film focuses on individuals who are currently dealing with mental health issues and have coped with thoughts of suicide. Our documentary also follows the journey of the Commit Campaign, a photo- based social media movement to end the stigma associated with mental health/ mental illness and suicide. Kelsey Oney and Christina Tetreault who are surviors of suicide loss lead the organization. The Commit Campaign’s mission is to reduce the nation’s suicide rate through interacting with the community to create a place to speak freely and openly. The Campaign educates through social media platforms, community networks, and community events to share educational materials/ personal stories of those who are survivors of suicide loss and mental illness.

The Suicide Hotline is available 24/7: 1-(800)-273-8255 or
